Building Hope: A Celebration of Traveller Culture

A concert and discussion on Traveller Culture and Mental Health.

Curated and hosted by Sharyn Ward with performances and discussions with Trish Reilly and Steo Wall and guest appearances from leading figures within the community.

Sharyn Ward is a singer/songwriter, recording artist, community volunteer and a proud Irish Traveller Woman. Based in Darndale, Dublin, she is originally from Longford and is a mother of three.

She regularly speaks and performs at events to raise awareness of Traveller mental health. She is currently recording an EP and is working towards writing, recording and releasing her debut album. She has taken part in a documentary on life as a modern Traveller woman and has featured regularly in discussions on Traveller Culture and Traveller Pride.

Her exceptional rendition of Black is the Colour earned her a place in Ireland’s Got Talent final where she sang One Starry Night – a song which “makes me proud to be a Traveller”, she says.

She went on to win an award at the Traveller Pride Awards. She is currently working with choreographer Muirne Bloomer on a community project in Dardale.

She also sings every week with the church choir in Dublin’s Darndale.
