Awakening! Thirty Irish artists release one-off works as part of a global print drop to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day around the world.

Some of Ireland’s leading artists are taking part in an exciting new collaborative print drop to mark this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival.

The unique project will see 30 contemporary Irish artists releasing affordable limited edition prints that can be bought online for the duration of the festival.

All prints, curated by Robyn Carey for Dublin-based studio Damn Fine Print, will be sold as part of a limited run that only exists online for the length of this year’s St. Patrick’s Festival, March 12-17.

Artists taking part in the project come from the world of painting, graphic design, illustration and print with established names like David Booth, Leah Hewson, Grace Enemaku, Rionagh McNamara and Ashwin Chacko already involved.

Their works, created especially in response to this year’s festival theme of Dúisigh Éire (Awaken Ireland), will be available to purchase anywhere around the world before being printed in Dublin at the end of the festival and shipped globally.

Clued-in art lovers will be able to buy limited edition risograph prints from these talented creatives for just €40, with €5 from every print sold going to ALONE, an Irish charity doing amazing work to support and empower older people who might be lonely or isolated during the pandemic.

Speaking about the project, Interim Director of the St. Patrick’s Festival Anna McGowan said: “This exciting new art collaboration is a great example of some of the amazing creative energy that’s out there in Ireland today.

“We’ll be proudly showcasing these artists and their work to the Irish diaspora around the globe while also giving the public a great opportunity to acquire a fantastic piece of collectible art that celebrates Ireland and some of the amazing talents that live here.

“Working with Damn Fine Print and these incredible artists is just another great example of Irish initiatives coming together to overcome the challenges of running a festival during the pandemic and producing something new and exciting instead.”

Damn Fine Print’s creative director Kim Willougby said: “This project is a really great opportunity for us to celebrate some of the amazing new artists that are working in Ireland today and present the work to the public in a fun and approachable way.

“We’ll be giving a platform to new and emerging artists that puts them on the same level as established and famous artists that are also involved in the project. Everything in the collection will be risograph printed right here in Dublin but they’ll be hanging on walls everywhere from Boston to Hong Kong”.

CEO of ALONE Sean Moynihan said: “We are delighted to be part of such a collaborative and inclusive initiative showcasing Irish artists. ALONE really resonates with the chosen theme ‘Awaken Ireland’, as vaccinations continue to be administered to people across the country. We are beginning to come through the other side and we appreciate the continuous support of Damn Fine Print and the St. Patrick’s Festival.”
